This spring, under the artist name Gravity Mission, Ruben Erazo of the Denton-based Colombian band Subito Pianno and I will be launching our first full length collaboration album entitled Before the Spoken Word, spawning an arguably new niche genre entitled “Electronic Chillout Consciousness”. Ruben and I began working together on this project back in February 2011 while I was the creative director for his Subito Pianno album Paisaje Mental (Mental Landscapes). Gravity mission is comprised of two individuals; Ruben is the Director of Music and I am the Director of Visual Arts and Lyrics. Together, we have combined our backgrounds, talents and visions to discover new and exciting musical territory that we can’t wait to share with the universe.
Gravity Mission’s unmistakable sound is filled with spacey synthesizers, cosmic kicks and deep house bass-laden beats, topped with classical piano elements and melodies. Our inspiration has materialized from numerous artists spanning different generations of music. I have drawn from current artists including LA-based house artist Samantha James, Norway chillout-powered Röyksopp, and Kaskade-fused lounge masters Late Night Alumni. Twenty years the wiser, Ruben’s musical influences range from the worldwide renowned 70′s psychadelic rock group Pink Floyd, 80′s/90′s English pop singer and producer George Michael, and 80′s Canadian synth-pop disco group Lime.
Ruben has recently announced that he has finished the masterization stage of our album. Next on the agenda: our visual arts component, including album design and fine art photographs. We hope to hold an exhibiton in local galleries for this fine art fusion of music and sound.
A kickstarter fundraiser will be created in February to raise money for CD production and independent hardcopy/digital distribution. Our current release date is planned for late spring/early summer 2012.
Please visit www.gravitymission.com to learn more about our mission and to hear several track samples. If you dig our concept and style, please like us on the Gravity Mission Facebook Page. More exciting details to come!

Subject: Protect Artists, Vote Against PIPA
Message: Dear [Recipient],
My name is Scott Werley, and I am a constituent reaching out to my elected officials who represent me politically. I am a North Texas graphic designer, photographer, and web designer by trade and love the work that I provide to the world.
I am writing on behalf of the artists within our country who rely on the progression and open nature of the internet to promote, inspire, and share our works with our surrounding American culture at large. Not only does the internet allow us to communicate our ideas with others, but it unifies our capabilities to be unified as human beings, as an entire species.
By voting against PIPA on Tuesday, January 24th, you will be protecting the invested interests of artists, graphic designers, illustrators, photographers, writers, musicians, film makers and other creative professionals much like me who rely on the power of the internet to have their messages heard, be it visually or audibly.
Please vote “no” on PIPA and protect the interests of this nation’s artists and those who develop new perspectives for others to benefit from. Art forms shared through the internet pushes us intellectually, challenges our views, and reminds us to think like we might be wrong.
To many folks, the internet means possibility, and to eliminate innovation from this equation will bring stagntation to this country. The future of many individuals is riding on your vote. Together, with your help, we can defeat PIPA and preserve our nation’s creative integrity.
We employ you to remember our voices as Tuesday, January 24th approaches. This nation’s artistic future depends upon it.
Thank you for your time and reading this important message.
Sincerely,
Scott Werley

Upon reflecting on the recent demise of Apple’s iconic CEO Steve Jobs, I would like to discuss the topic of Entrepreneurialship within this world. Steve Jobs was the epitome and definition of what it means to be an entrepreneur, and with the recent (and well-deserved) media attention on his passing, I think this is an appropriate time to dive deeper into this discussion.
Steve Jobs was an entrepreneur by nature. He saw opportunity where it previously did not exist. He changed the way we see, think, and respond to the world. He challenged himself everyday to face his mortality and do something with his life. For this dedication, we will always remember Steve Jobs as The Innovator — one who changed them all — and as the bridge between the worlds of technology and creativity.
But what does it mean to be an entrepreneur? Cameron Herold, a world-wide reconized entrepreneur since childhood, has discussed how we are in desperate need to raise generations of kids that are oriented to seek out and create new opportunities. In his lecture “Let’s Raise Kids to be Entrepreneurs,” Herold shares several of his early yet intelligent businesses opportunities with coat hangers, comic books, and golf balls. It is the kids raised in this style of thinking that turn into game changers like Steve Jobs, Jeff Bezos, Larry Page, Sergey Brin, Bill gates… the list goes on and on, but the point being these individuals are worldwide recognized for the efforts and dedications to pursuing new possibilities for all of humanity.
As Steve Jobs has challenged us to seek what is most important in our lives and settle for nothing less, I too challenge everyone reading this to chase after that crazy idea that never seems to go away. No matter what you do, it won’t until you take action — and take that risk.
The world is in need of torch-holders. Why not attempt to be the next? We are already stripped down by life’s greatest invention: death. Alas, there is nothing left to lose.

Poster art has an ability to create waves throughout the media industry at large — whether it is produced for films, novels, music or special events. Get your dose of awesome this Friday by taking a glimpse at the wonderfully imaginative works of poster artist Fernando Reza.
The ingenious combination of his minimalistic, textured layouts, together with his acute sense of open space and aged color palettes, have produced a formula for design that is felt, rather than seen. Reza has created a welcoming visual dialect that undeniably invites his viewer to interact with his work psychologically and make vivid connections that are inseperable from memory.
I hope you enjoy this inspirational work. May it bring expansion and imagination to your world!

Today’s technology-oriented atmosphere has evolved at such a mind-boggling rate that we often forget how far we have come since the early nineties. Refresh your memory of the prehistoric while laughing out loud: take a good look at this Best Buy Flyer from September 1996 to relive the high life.
This particular issue presented is 15 years old, almost to the day. To say we’ve come a long way is a bit of an understatement.
Now, fast-forward to September 2026, fifteen years from now. Without a doubt, the techno-gap will be even wider… exponentially so. For you Bradburys/Huxleys of our forthcoming years, what do you think is heading our way that will reinvent the human workflow as we know it? I’d love to hear your thoughts!

Many of us often have ideas about starting a new small business. But in reality, these ideas do not get very far as we give up on them too quickly. Being a business owner is a complicated venture; however, it can also be the most beneficial decisions you will ever make. Taking risks is essential for our continuous growth on multiple levels, as it keeps daily living intersting and dynamic.
If you are thinking about taking a chance on your business ideas, make your beginnings easier by reading Inc.com’s “5 Ways to Stop Dreaming and Start Building Your New Business Now.” This post provides simple, invaluable advice for those considering new paths in their lives.
There are numerous components to building a great business. Failure is ultimately one of the most important feedback triggers as it helps us to understand what we need to change to achieve success. When we listen to our failures, we allow ourselves the opportunity to grow. It is important to keep in mind that your greatest teacher is yourself. When you understand and practice this, things will begin to naturally change to benefit your proposed direction.
