This spring, under the artist name Gravity Mission, Ruben Erazo of the Denton-based Colombian band Subito Pianno and I will be launching our first full length collaboration album entitled Before the Spoken Word, spawning an arguably new niche genre entitled “Electronic Chillout Consciousness”.  Ruben and I began working together on this project back in February 2011 while I was the creative director for his Subito Pianno album Paisaje Mental (Mental Landscapes).  Gravity mission is comprised of two individuals; Ruben is the Director of Music and I am the Director of Visual Arts and Lyrics.  Together, we have combined our backgrounds,  talents and visions to discover new and exciting musical territory that we can’t wait to share with the universe.

Gravity Mission’s unmistakable sound is filled with spacey synthesizers, cosmic kicks  and deep house bass-laden beats, topped with classical piano elements and melodies.  Our inspiration has materialized from numerous artists spanning different generations of music.  I have drawn from current artists including LA-based house artist Samantha James, Norway chillout-powered Röyksopp, and Kaskade-fused lounge masters Late Night Alumni.  Twenty years the wiser, Ruben’s musical influences range from the worldwide renowned 70′s psychadelic rock group Pink Floyd, 80′s/90′s English pop singer and producer George Michael, and 80′s Canadian synth-pop disco group Lime.

Ruben has recently announced that he has finished the masterization stage of our album.  Next on the agenda: our visual arts component, including album design and fine art photographs.  We hope to hold an exhibiton in local galleries for this fine art fusion of music and sound.

A kickstarter fundraiser will be created in February to raise money for CD production and independent hardcopy/digital distribution.  Our current release date is planned for late spring/early summer 2012.
