Multi award-winning traveling photographer Timothy Allen, whom since 2008 has shadowed the film crews of the BBC documentary series Human Planet, has recently shared a variety of trench-tested tips for aspiring travel/documentary photographers around the globe.

In his post entitled Take Better Travel Photos, Timothy shares his tried and true advice to capture more honest, emotionally charged and mentally engaging photographs.  I have found that the five practical tips he has outlined and openly shared are essential to all evolving photographers who are wishing to enhance and refine their abilities.

At the end of the day, the final portfolio is supreme.  When shooting, it is essential to retain your purpose and have intentions for your actions. What are you trying to convey to your audience? Keep in mind along the way to achieving a presentable body of work that photography is an intuitive art form. Its beauty lies in its execution and presentation of complex, fleeting worldly relationships.  How to arrive at your destination is up to you, which keeps photographic assignments as fresh and dynamic as ever.
