Education Undergraduate Experience Scott Werley

Undergraduate Experience.

Accomplishments while studying at St. Norbert College.

The recipient of numerous awards for his academic achievement and creative nature, Scott Werley pursues excellence with every ounce of his being. In February 2009, Scott earned the Jeanne M. Godschalx Art Award from St. Norbert College for his solo photography exhibit, Jellyfish Sea, which offered an intensely personal window into his existential self-reflections and meditations. This was the first solo student art show exhibited at the institution in fifteen years, which met Scott with praise and recognition as a serious fine art photographer.

Scott was honored First Place in Show for his photograph, Jellyfish Sea 1, at the 2009 St. Norbert College Student Juried Art Show. In the years prior to this honor, he had pieces frequently accepted by, and displayed within, this prestigious show. Scott received the Distinguished Scholastic Achievement Award from SNC for his exceptional scholastic performance during his undergraduate experience. He was granted a Trustees scholarship over four consecutive years, held a firm place on the Dean’s list every semester, and graduated magna cum laude, borderline summa cum laude.

During his senior year, Scott worked as a Graphic Artist for the SNC Abbot Pennings Hall of Fine Arts Music Department. With a set schedule of one poster per week, Scott paced himself to create more than thirty applied professional posters for SNC music faculty and student performances. This position allowed Scott to develop a firm sense of artistic direction and pre-press stages while collaborating with others in a fast paced environment.

While serving as the Creative Director of St. Norbert College’s WSNC Radio for two years, Scott managed over thirty DJ’s and spearheaded the group’s identity graphics, website content, and officers panel. His unwavering love of music, fine art, graphic communications, and group unity have played active roles in his leadership abilities in the educational sphere and beyond.

At St. Norbert, Scott discovered his love for theater photography, an unexpected nitch market off of the radar of his colleagues. He was privileged to become the campus’ Student Theater Photographer and shot five performances total within the college’s Webb Theatre and Walter Theatre.

Scott also served as the St. Norbert College campus, staff and faculty Student Photographer and Web Intern for two years while working with the Office of Communications. His work has been published in the St. Norbert College Magazine, the Green Bay Press Gazette and the Chronicle of Higher Education. Scott’s two-year Research Fellowship with the SNC Career Services Office provided him with this opportunity to improve upon his photographic repertoire.
